Frequently Asked Questions
What contrast ratio do I need for WCAG AA?
WCAG AA requires a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text (18px bold or 24px regular). This is the standard most websites aim for.
What is the difference between WCAG AA and AAA?
AA is the standard level requiring 4.5:1 for text. AAA is the enhanced level requiring 7:1 for text and 4.5:1 for large text. AAA provides better readability for users with low vision.
How does the color blindness simulation work?
We simulate three types of color vision deficiency — protanopia (red-blind), deuteranopia (green-blind), and tritanopia (blue-blind) — using Viénot 1999 matrices to show how your colors appear to affected users.
Can I check contrast for my brand colors?
Yes — enter your brand colors and test them against various backgrounds. In the OASE dashboard, your brand kit colors are always accessible for one-click contrast testing.
